Some are so huge they have to be anchored to the pavement! At nightfall, the balloon and kites will light up the skies and glow.

Outside of the most amazing hot air balloons, you have ever seen and mind-blowing giant kites, a local charity is going to benefit from this year's event. Proceeds from the SWLA Hot Air Balloon & Kite Festival are going towards a beautiful cause, Reins of Hope. In case you're familiar, they are a 501c3 non-profit, located at The Stables at Le Bocage. They are an accredited progressive therapeutic riding program, through the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH) International, proudly serving the SWLA community and beyond.

This equine program helps individuals with special needs whether it is physical, emotional, educational, or social. With the use of horses, participants build a unique connection that is non-judgmental and genuine. The ultimate goal is to help participants to overcome their life challenges through equestrian therapy. It is a wonderful program that is right here in Lake Charles! Everyone who buys a ticket to this weekend's hot air balloon event will be helping Reins of Hope feed and care for their horses and continue their life-saving mission.
