Being a minority, there are times we feel excluded when it comes to opportunities in the world. I have run across plenty of young men and women who have the mindset to create a business and potentially hit it out the park. However, those same people don’t get the look and respect of those in the business world.

Well, the Chamber SWLA will be addressing opportunity and the inequalities that often come with it. I received this information yesterday and wanted to make sure I passed it along to you. Tomorrow from 10:00am-11:00am, there will be a virtual event held for those who are looking for opportunities and want to hear from other business-minded individuals.

There will be two sessions, with the first at 10:00am. The session will be moderated by Alliance/Chamber SWLA CEO/President George Swift and will feature panelists including Dr. Marcus Jackson who's the Calcasieu Parish School Board R3 Zone Director of Curriculum and Instructions. Also, Judge Jean Thibodeaux and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana Marketing Account Manger Velika Hurst-Trahan.

The second session will begin at 10:30am and will be moderated by the Alliance/Chamber SWLA Business Development and Inclusion Chair Ernie Broussard. The panelist will include Mark Senegal, Entrepreneur, Beverly Dream,Reality owner, Bryan Beverly, and SEED Center Business Incubator Executive Director Adrian Wallace. The sessions will be done through Zoom so you can watch at home or on your cell and still get all the information that you need.

If you would like to register for one or both of the sessions, you can do so at allianceswla.org. You can also call Eric Cormier at 337-433-13632 or email ecormier@allianceswla.org.
