T.I. Pleads No Contest to Disorderly Conduct Charges
T.I.'s incident with a security guard outside of his gated community back in May is finally behind him.
According to FOX News, the Atlanta rapper plead no contest in court yesterday (Dec. 13). The plea is for disorderly conduct charges stemming from the incident, which led to an arrest and multiple charges, including assault. Luckily for Tip, the assault charge was dropped earlier this fall, with prosecutors deciding they didn't have enough evidence to pursue it.
As previously reported, the altercation occurred when T.I. had returned home to his gated community but was refused entry by the guard because he didn't have his I.D. According to a statement from T.I.'s lawyer, his wife, Tiny, was in their home and told the guard via phone that T.I. should be let in, but he still refused. At that point, words were exchanged and a scuffle ensued, and the police were called and responded by arresting Tip for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct.
Despite the no contest plea, T.I. wasn't necessarily admitting guilt. Per FOX, "His lawyer said he feels confident a jury would have returned a not guilty verdict, but said T.I. was too busy to undertake a full trial."
Tip is no stranger to the criminal justice system, and earlier this week, spoke out in support of Cyntoia Brown, who was sentenced to 51 years in prison for murdering a man who solicited her for sex when she was 16.
"How is this considered justice?" T.I. wrote on Instagram. "#CyntoiaBrown we riding with you!!! This shit disgusting. WE MUST DO ALL WE CAN TO FREE THIS YOUNG LADY!!!"
