As we celebrate the life of a man who was visionary in the southern hip hop scene DJ Screw. We remember today being a momentous one on this date in 1996, he released the jam June 27th. This was by far ahead of it's time and is still a classic in the rides til this day. Check out the clip for June 27th!
I have been thinking about doing this story for awhile. We tend to look at rappers and associating the deaths of artist like Tupac and Notorious B.I.G with gun violence. Although that is usually the consensous, there are other things bringing the demise of some of our favorite artist. This story is to talk about the relation of Hip Hop and Heart Disease among musicians!
As we come to our last couple of days for Black History Month, I like to remember contributers from all aspect of the meaning. Being from Meridian, Mississippi I knew a little about Screw music , but not until I was getting ready to move. Of course the name I heard the most of was the creator of Screw. That would be Robert Earl Davis Jr. A.K.A DJ Screw, check out some footage from him below!
