Thanks Lake Charles For Helping Us Reach A New Goal With Our St. Jude Urban Radio Cares Radiothon

Over the past few weeks, I have been working behind the scenes to make sure that everything is in place and lined up for the annual St. Jude Urban Radio Cares Radiothon. From taking care of lining up sponsors with the sales team and getting songs put together with the creative team. It is a lot of work that goes into putting on a successful radiothon.

The days finally arrived and Gina Cook and Myself along with our sister station Gator 99.5 came together to try and surpass our goal of what we did in 2020. During that year we were able to acquire $71,000.00 for the patients and their families at St. Jude. What is great about St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is all of the good and hope that they provide for the families. Being a parent, the last thing I want to hear is a Doctor coming to tell me that my child has Cancer. At that moment I can see that my world would seem to crumble right in front of me and while I am a praying man, my faith would potentially be challenged.

What St. Jude does is help those families cope and be able to offer support to their loved ones and also not have the worry of having to pay bills, worry about finding a place to stay, or food to eat. All of this is taken care of when you become a Partner in Hope with St. Jude.

This past Wednesday and Thursday the time was here for us to show what we are known for doing and that is for being a community-minded station and for giving back to those in need. We took off last year due to the after-effects of having 2 Hurricanes, an Ice Storm, a Flood, and a Tornado. The entire city and community needed relief and we knew that we wouldn't be able to commit to St. Jude like we normally would. Well, this year we not only came back hard but we also surpassed what we made in 2020 with the new total amount being $75,246.00. It is because of all of the Partners in Hope and many organizations and everyday businesses who came by and donated out of their pocket for a great cause. We have so many great sponsors that we want to thank including Avail Hospital, Home Furniture, United Office Supply, All-Star Buick GMC, and Autoplex 2000. Thank you all for helping us pull off another successful event from all of the families of St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
