Opelousas, Louisiana based hip-hop duo That Nation are quickly on the rise. Lil Bill Swavey and Yung Dezzy D make up the collaborative, and they’re making some serious moves with the backing of their label Mission Statement Ent. Check out The Magnificent directed visuals here!

Lately it’s surprising to hear a record of this caliber from a Southwest Louisiana based group, considering how saturated the market has been with the traditional sounds of New Orleans Bounce, the Baton Rouge ratchet movement, and Houston’s traditional syrup induced movement, all influencing the area at one time or another. Those three cities seem to have had the most influence on the quality of music released throughout the Southwestern region of Louisiana in the past twenty years.

None of those influences are a bad thing, but they have ruled the smaller markets like Lake Charles, Lafayette, Opelousas, and etc. for quite some time, all while those bigger markets we emulate continue to change and evolve.

With new music from the likes of the 337 Mafia, Big Rich, Big Boom & 2 Throwed, the Gulf Coast Cartel, the Hub City Boyz, Chrizz Michaels, K Chill, Mike B, That Nation, Wochee, X.O., and so many more, the sound of the 337 seems as if it’s gradually becoming it’s own, out right.
