The Wiz Live! To Be Released On DVD Just In Time For Christmas [VIDEO]

AllHipHop reports NBC’s The Wiz Live! was a mega hit!   The modern remake of the Tony Award winning 75 classic, brought in 11.5 million viewers during it's TV broadcast. The big numbers also set a Nielsen Twitter record, being the most tweeted special program ever.

The fact that the live Broadway musical had an all-star cast like Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Ne-Yo, David Alan Grier and more, didn't hurt either.  Giving director Kenny Leon a lot to smile about, The Wiz Live! got some pretty good reviews as well.  The 2015 remake came out with high marks, getting a grade of A-, versus other live NBC adaptations such as Peter Pan and Sound of Music.
