Tiffany Haddish to Write Introduction to ‘Richard Pryor Diaries’
Tiffany Haddish has been tapped to write the introduction for a book about the life of the late and great comedian Richard Pryor.
The book is called The Richard Pryor Diaries and it’s being described as a “rough draft of his life story.” The memoir “is an unredacted account of the events that shaped him, written shortly after his near successful suicide attempt. It’s a naked account of the choices that led to a lighter, an accelerant and a new beginning.”
According to TMZ, the book will explore Pryor’s bisexuality, as well as his home life and career in entertainment. Pryor's widow, Jennifer Lee Pryor, who is writing the book's forward, has talked about the comedian bisexuality, even confirming a rumor that he did slept with Marlon Brando.
Haddish is thrilled to be writing the introduction to book because she sees Pryor as one of her comedy heroes. Richard Pryor reportedly mentored Haddish when she was starting out as a comedian.
Haddish is an author herself. The 38-year-old comedian's book, The Last Black Unicorn, is a funny collection of personal essays. It's also a New York Times bestseller.
You can pre-order The Richard Pryor Diaries now at Amazon. The book will hit bookstores on Oct. 16.
