Happy Veterans Day to all the men and women who've served, and continue to serve in the United States America's Armed Forces. We owe our freedom to you. Thank you! There will be several activities and events in SWLA in honor of our veterans today and this weekend. Below is are some of the scheduled events, as well as businesses and restaurants offering discounts. per KPLC-7 News.

Lake Charles

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Americans United Program and 'Walk of Honor' will get underway from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Heritage Square, Sulphur. The 'Walk of Honor' starts at 10 a.m. leaving from Brookshire Brothers on Ruth Street, and ending at Heritage Square. There will be live music, food trucks, jump houses, face painting and raffle. All proceeds will go to Friends of Sulphur Police benevolence fund and Louisiana Cajun Navy.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Lake Charles Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission Veterans Day Observance ceremony, honoring all of SWLA's vetertans. Starting at 11 a.m. join the Mayor’s Armed Forces Commission at the Civic Center, on the 2nd floor in the Mezzanine. This year's guest speaker will be Major General Ronald G. Richard, retired U.S. Marine Corps, and KPLC's Maranda Whittington will be the Master of Ceremonies. The U.S. Coast Guard Command Safety Unit will post colors, and the Marine Corps League, Detachment 535 will offer a 21 gun salute.

There will also be a special award ceremony for Gold Star Families in the area. If you're a Gold Star Family and wish for your loved one to be honored at this event, please call (337) 491-9176 for more details. Lunch will be served immediately following the ceremony.

Sulphur

Friday, Nov 10 - Our Lady's School Veteran’s Day Celebration begins at 2:15 p.m. at the school hall, located at 1111 Cypress Street, Sulphur.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Sulphur Veterans Day Parade starts at 9 a.m., beginning at the S-Curve, onto W. Cypress Street, and wrapping up at the City Courthouse.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - American Legion Post 551 and Combre Memorial Park Veteran's Day Ceremony. From 9 a.m to 10:30 a.m. come out to Combre Memorial Park, located at 2701 Opelousas Street, Lake Charles. There will be a special unveiling ceremony to honor, Petty Officer Kevin Yokum, who sacrificed his life during the 911 attack on the United States Pentagon in 2001.

Church Point

Saturday, Nov. 11- A Veterans Day Program  will start with the annual parade begins at 11 a.m. Pearl Harbor survivor Joseph Richard, will be Grand Marshall this year. The route begins at Church Point High on 305 E. Lougarre Street, to Le Vieux Presbytère Museum, and end at 205 Rue Iry Lejeune via Main Street. An honor program will be performed by American Legion Post 225, and hosted by the museum will follow. The Legion and the VFW will sponsor a blood drive, at Rod’s Supermarket, located at 745 S. Main Street, from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. The public's invited to come out and take part in all the festivities as we salute our veterans. For more info, call (337) 384-7993.

Friday, Nov. 10 - L’Auberge Casino's Beaucoup Buffet is giving out a free breakfast or lunch from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 11 Dine-in only - Chili's is offering FREE meals from its special Veterans Day menu from 11 a.m.- close. The menu items include: Chicken Crispers, Chicken Bacon Ranch Quesadillas, Oldtimer with Cheese, Classic Bacon Burger and Chili or Soup & Salad.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Chuck E. Cheese is giving a free individual one-topping pizzas, use offer code 5500.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Cracker Barrel is offering retired and active military a FREE Double Fudge Coca-Cola Cake on Veterans Day.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Gatti’s Pizza is offering free buffet or free medium 1-topping pizza for carryout for veterans and active military.

Saturday, Nov. 11 Dine-in only - IHOP in Lake Charles, located at 2601 Admiral King Street is giving out FREE red, white and blue buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Saturday, Nov. 11 - Little Caesars is offering a free lunch combo between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.  The combo includes four slices of deep-dish pizza, and a 20-ounce Pepsi product with  proof of service. Order must be placed before 2 p.m.

Logan's Roadhouse is offering a free entree from a special menu. Veterans always receive a 10 percent discount.

Olive Garden Lake Charles located at 725 W Prien Lake Road is offering FREE meals from its special Veterans Day menu, 11 a.m.- 11 p.m. with unlimited soup, or salad and garlic breadsticks.

Outback Steakhouse Lake Charles is offering FREE Bloomin' Onion and beverage.

Starbucks is offering a free tall brewed coffee.

Stonefired Pizzeria Lake Charles, located at 3710 Common Street is offering $5 pizzas all day.

Texas Roadhouse The Lake Charles (Dine-in only,) located at 3431 Nelson Road invites veterans and active members of U.S. military to enjoy FREE lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
