From Spotlight To Legacy: 7 Lake Charles Performing Arts Seniors Awarded Major Scholarships
As the talented seniors of Calcasieu Parish’s Theatrical Arts Program take their final bow, they’re leaving behind more than just applause — they’re leaving a legacy.
From packed junior productions to national scholarship offers, this group of graduating students from Barbe, LaGrange, and beyond have set the stage for future performers. Their hard work, talent, and heart have inspired younger students watching from the wings — including my own daughter, a proud freshman just beginning her journey in this incredible program. Her first production...FROZEN Jr.
And what a program it is.
Fueled by the passion of selfless teachers (some of whom are fighting cancer while mentoring full-time), supported by parents and local partnerships like Southlake Theater, this program is more than extracurricular — it’s transformational. It nurtures talent, builds confidence, and creates opportunities most students only dream of.
These seniors may be heading off to Broadway dreams and prestigious arts schools, but they’ve already achieved something equally powerful: they've shown our younger kids what's possible with dedication, courage, and community.
To the seniors: thank you for paving the way.
To the rising stars: your time is coming — and the spotlight is waiting.
Wishing you congratulations on your amazing accomplishments! On behalf of myself, your parents, high schools and fellow students I just want you to know how very proud we are of all you. We can't wait to see how much more you achieve in your next chapter in the performing arts and in furthering your education. You as a shining example of Southwest Louisiana excellence! Congrats to you all once again. #CalcasieuTheater #LakeCharlesProud #NextUp #TheArtsMatter
