Another Auto-Pedestrian Accident Reported in Lake Charles
As the Lake Area continues to grow, auto-pedestrian and auto-cyclist accidents, as of late, seem to be the norm here in Southwest Louisiana. Drivers should pay closer attention to there surroundings rather they are driving on the road or in parking lots.
The Lake Charles Police Department responded to the Ryan Street Market Basket on Thursday, April 12, at approximately 2:15 p.m., in reference to an "auto-pedestrian crash" involving a 2014 GMC pick-up that backed out of a parking space hitting a female pedestrian who walked behind the vehicle, said a media release. The driver did not see the pedestrian, as she was knocked to the ground and trapped under the pick-up.
The Lake Charles Fire Department was also reportedly called out to use "extrication equipment" to free the pedestrian from underneath the pick-up. The victim was transported to a local hospital by ambulance with non-life threatening injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
