With school starting back on Friday, August 13, there are plenty of organizations and people in the area who are doing some great things for the city of Lake Charles. First, on Wednesday, August 11 Bullies Lives Matter, Bullies Bullying Cancer, Paramount Handy Services and The Turnaround 2 Greatness presents the 5th Annual Backpack Giveaway. It's happening at Lock Park 320 6th Street from 12 p.m.- 2 p.m. on a first-come basis. If you would like to help or donate, please call 337-853-1038.

On Thursday, August 12 Boss Up Clothing 1850 Gerstner Memorial Drive at noon, along with G Baby Entertainment and Shot By Manny- Film Cartel are having a huge back-to-school supply drive with school supplies, a live DJ, and plenty of food and games for everyone to enjoy. Also for the event, there will be a free photo shoot for one lucky family given by the Film Cartel. Boss Up clothing will be given one full outfit from the men's department and one for the ladies.

If you would like to attend either one of these events or both, they are both free and welcome everyone to come out and enjoy. We want to make sure that the students are going back to school the right way and have all of the supplies they need to make it throughout the year.

Kudos to all of the organizations who are truly doing things in the community helping to make sure the students will be able to have a wonderful year this year.
