Foreman first rose to fame by winning Olympic gold in 1968, later securing the world heavyweight title twice, 21 years apart. His famous 1974 "Rumble in the Jungle" bout against Muhammad Ali remains one of boxing’s most historic moments.

Beyond the ring, Foreman became a beloved entrepreneur, preacher, and humanitarian. His George Foreman Grill, a best-selling kitchen staple, further cemented his place in pop culture.

A Family’s Tribute
In a heartfelt statement, Foreman’s family described him as "a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather who lived a life of faith, humility, and purpose." They praised his legacy, calling him "a force for good, a man of conviction, and a protector of his name."

From Street Tough to Heavyweight Champ
Born in Marshall, Texas, in 1949, Foreman overcame a troubled youth to become one of boxing’s greatest champions. After winning gold at the 1968 Olympics in Mexico City, he turned professional and won 37 consecutive fights, including a 1973 knockout victory over Joe Frazier that earned him his first heavyweight title.

His shocking loss to Muhammad Ali in 1974’s "Rumble in the Jungle" remains one of the most famous fights of all time. Foreman later retired in 1977 and became a Christian minister, founding the Church of the Lord Jesus Christ in Houston, Texas.

A Historic Comeback and Pop Culture Icon
Foreman made an astonishing return to boxing in 1987 to fund his youth center, ultimately reclaiming the heavyweight title in 1994 at age 45, making him the oldest champion in history.

Outside the ring, he became a household name with his George Foreman Grill, selling millions of units worldwide with the iconic slogan, "Lean Mean Grilling Machine."

Married five times, Foreman was a father to 12 children, famously naming his five sons George so they would "always have something in common." Our deepest most heartfelt condolences to his loving family and friends. He will never be forgotten. May he rest in peace.

I highly recommend the movie based on his life, a biography directed by George Tillman Jr. It was a fascinating story, that gave his many fans little-known facts about his life before and after his boxing career. It was powerful and eye-opening.

Big George Foreman is a must-see and explains how he was much more than a boxer, how he gave back to his community, became a successful entrepreneur with his famous George Foreman Grill a preacher, and much more. Watch this wonderful biography on Disney+, Hulu, Prime, and other streaming platforms.
