Today is officially the birthday of a truly honorable man by the name of Martin Luther King Jr and there are celebrations around the world for this man and what he stood for. Here in Lake Charles there will be the annual MLK festival activities with the theme this year being I have Decided to Stick With Love... Hate is Too Great a Burden to Bear.

It all starts tomorrow at the MLK Center 2009 N. Simmons Street with the SWLA Health Fair followed on Friday January 17th with the The Memorial Breakfast at the Mount Olive Baptist Church 3007 Enterprise Blvd with keynote speaker Ted Williams from CNN and Fox News. On Saturday January 18th there will be a Teen Debate and Community Clean-Up at MLK Center.

On Sunday prepare for the Gospel Extravaganza at the Throne of Grace 2401 6th street for a day of fellowship and great music. The big day will be this Monday January 20, 2020 with the Parade and Family Day at the Lake Charles Civic Center.
