38th Annual MLK Festival In Lake Charles
It's that time of the year where Lake Charles gets excited and anticipates the annual MLK Festival. The event will be held for 3 days and will include various speakers, activities, and music for all to attend. A great highlight for the festival is the 2022 MLK Community Honorees who will be honored with the MLK Unsung Hero Award. This year's community heroes include Soup Kitchen TV, Business Owner Nowar Fairley, Dr. Percival Kane, Washington Marion Principal Ronnie Harvey and so many other great honorees for the event.
They will be honored at the MLK Memorial Brunch on Saturday, January 15th inside the Washington Marion Gym 2702 Pineview Street beginning at 10:30 am. The guest speaker will be Judge Derrick Kee of the 14th Judicial District Court. This will be followed by the MLK Celebration of Gospel at New Sunlight Baptist Church at 5 pm.
The event will end with the annual MLK Parade beginning at 11 am at the Lake Charles Civic Center, with the lineup beginning at 9 am and the Battle Of The Bands immediately following the parade.
