Chris Brown’s Rape Accuser Has Questionable Statement, Police Say: Report
Chris Brown, who was arrested for rape on Monday (Jan. 21), remains in Paris this morning after being released from police custody on Tuesday (Jan. 22). Apparently, a big reason why he was released so quickly was because police found the alleged victim's statement to be questionable.
According to a TMZ report posted today (Jan. 24), French authorities question Brown's accuser's recollection of the events on the night of the alleged rape. Apparently, the alleged victim, who says she was raped and abused by Brown and his two other friends on the night of Jan. 15 going into Jan. 16, never alerted the estimated 20 people who were in the living room at the time of the alleged crime(s). They think this is suspicious, so when they released from Brown from police custody without any conditions, officers reportedly apologized to Brown before he went back to the same hotel.
As we previously reported, the 24-year-old French woman told police that Brown raped her in his hotel suite dressing room for roughly 25 to 30 minutes. She also says she went into another room in the suite and was raped again by one of Brown's friends. Then, she claims she was "abused" for a third time in another room.
As a free man, Brown and his legal team plans to sue the accuser in Paris for defamation. According to his lawyers, the lawsuit will be filed this week. After his release, the singer proclaimed his innocence.
“I WANNA MAKE IT PERFECTLY CLEAR," Brown wrote in the caption for his Instagram post. "THIS IS FALSE AND A WHOLE LOT OF CAP! NNNNNNNNEEEEEEEEEEVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEERRRRRR!!!!!! FOR MY DAUGHTER AND MY FAMILY THIS IS SO DISPRESPECTFUL [sic] AND IS AGAINST MY CHARACTER AND MORALS!!!!!”
Brown is reportedly still staying the same hotel where the alleged crime occurred. One source close to Brown says he has no reason to fear any future run-ins with French authorities.
