As the summer winds down, the food pantry at Abraham's Tent is starting to get low. So, just like the three bears, they need to stock up for the winter. Please come out and donate your freezer and pantry food and drop it off at the annual Clean Out the Freezer and Pantry Day Food Drive.

This event is sponsored by "Sportsmen For the Hungry," which was
founded in 1989. It is comprised of Safri Club International members around the world. Their mission is to provide food every day of the year to the poor and hungry in Lake Charles. It's pretty cool!

If you have extra food to spare, please bring it to the Clean Out the Freezer and Pantry Day Food Drive. It's Sunday, August 27, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the Pathology Laboratory Parking lot at (830 West Bayou Pines Drive) in Lake Charles. A drive-thru drop-off service will be provided.

There is a drive-thru for the convenience of residents and participants who want to drop off food. Please bring donations to the parking log entrance of the Pathology Laboratory on Lake Street.

LOOK: See how much gasoline cost the year you started driving

To find out more about how has the price of gas changed throughout the years, Stacker ran the numbers on the cost of a gallon of gasoline for each of the last 84 years. Using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (released in April 2020), we analyzed the average price for a gallon of unleaded regular gasoline from 1976 to 2020 along with the Consumer Price Index (CPI) for unleaded regular gasoline from 1937 to 1976, including the absolute and inflation-adjusted prices for each year.

Read on to explore the cost of gas over time and rediscover just how much a gallon was when you first started driving.
