CPSO Arrests Texas Woman for Two Counts of Child Desertion
Deputies with the Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office were called out to a casino in Westlake on Sunday, August 5 at about 4:00pm due to a report of two unattended children in a car.
A 7-year-old child and an 18-month-old baby were reportedly left in the car with the air conditioner running when casino security personnel observed them in the car.
The mother, Brooke R. Evetts, 38, of Trinity, Texas was located inside the casino by security and escorted to her car. Surveillance footage showed the children were in the car for approximately 40 minutes.
"Evetts was arrested and booked into the Calcasieu Correctional Center and charged with two counts of child desertion. Her bond is still pending. The children were released to a family member," said a media release.
