Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office arrested Jeffery S. Mcdowell, Jr, 27 due to residential contractor fraud. Mcdowell of Absolute Roofing and Remodeling was hired by the victim to perform work and paid Mcdowell half of the money up front to start.

Before the job was completed, Mcdowell requested the rest of money for the job, but never returned to finish the job even after cashing the check. It was also discovered that he didn't have a valid contractor's license to even start the job in the first place. He was arrested in Texas and returned to Louisiana. He was charged with residential construction and exploitation of the infirmed. He was released on bail the same day that he was arrested.

What's sad is that this is truly an ongoing situation here in the city. We have been beaten and torn apart from the Hurricanes, flooding and various other obstacles that have plagued the city with no end. When hard working people who are already having to deal with bad insurance deals and not getting the money that is due. The very last thing that we need are people who are taking advantage of great people who work hard for their money. If you are a contractor who is decent and want to help the people, you may have some hard labor to go through. Because people are simply tired of being robbed and victimized.

If you are someone who feels like you have been wronged by a contractor, please don't hesitate to call the Contractor Fraud Response Team at 437-3405 and let them take that pressure off of you when dealing with these kind of situations.
