The last thing Southwest Louisiana wants to see is a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico but, unfortunately, there is one right now. What is even more disheartening is that Hurricane Season is still ten days away, as it is set to begin on June 1.

Enough is enough is what we say after two hurricanes, an ice storm, and a historic flood in the past nine months. Southwest Louisiana folks are resilient, but I don't know how much more any of us can take.

There is a area of disturbance located in the Gulf of Mexico just south of Louisiana and Texas. The National Weather Service and NOAA are giving it a 20% chance of formation in the next 48 hours.

If it does form, the current trajectory takes it somewhere on the coast of Texas with the right side of the cone coming awful close to the Texas/Louisiana state line.

Also on the current map, a storm has formed in the Atlantic that has an 80% chance of development in the next five days. If it forms, it will be named Ana.

We will need to keep our eyes on the Gulf this weekend and see if this disturbance becomes something we should be concerned about. Either way boys and girls, Hurricane Season is on its way and by the looks of it, it may an active one if these two current disturbances are any indication.
