Drake Drops The Short Film, Please Forgive Me, Ahead Of Schedule – Tha Wire

Today in Tha Wire, Drake surprised fans this morning when he dropped his highly anticipated short film, Please Forgive Me. The project was inspired by the album Views, which, as of last month, became the first album this year to reach triple-platinum status and rake in more than 1 billion streams. According to reports, Views dominated the Billboard 200 Charts for 13 nonconsecutive weeks, and word has it the album is back at the #1 spot this week.

As no surprise Please Forgive Me is available exclusively on Apple Music. Drizzy signed a $19 million deal with the tech giant a year ago, and it's done nothing but pay off since then. The film was supposed to premiere this Friday, September 30, but was released this morning at about 1 a.m. EST instead. In the sneak peak video below, the singer/rapper teams back up with director Anthony Mandler, and flexes his acting skillz. Drake and Mandler have good chemistry and worked together in the past on his music videos for “Fancy”, “Find Your Love”, and “Over”.

Flipping the script, Hollywood and the world of sports were dealt major blows over the weekend. First was the death of the iconic actor best known as "Radio Raheem" from Spike Lee's Do The Right Thing, Bill Nunn. He and Spike were good friends and attended Morehouse together, which is why Nunn appeared and other Lee movies like School Daze and Mo’ Better Blues. You may also remember the legendary actor from the movie New Jack City, as Nino's stuttering gangsta.

Bill Nunn, gone to soon. He died on Saturday at the age of 63, after a long battle with leukemia. R.I.P. brotha.

Another surprising death this weekend was that of golf legend Arnold Palmer. Known as the "golf ambassador", Palmer died unexpectedly Sunday in a Pittsburgh hospital. He was 87. During his extensive career, he won more than seven majors and 90 tournaments worldwide.

The saddest and most shocking death this weekend was the untimely death of Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez. He was only 24 years old, and was killed in a tragic boating accident early Sunday morning. According to reports he died on impact when his 32-foot speedboat crashed into a jetty in Miami. To make matters worse, two other people were also killed in the accident.

The Cuban native, who was drafted 11th overall by the Marlins in 2011, had just shared a pic on Instagram to announce he and his girlfriend were expecting their first child.
