On the show Drake played paralyzed basketball player James "Jimmy" Brooks for seven seasons, appearing in 138 episodes through 2009. he recently earned his degree with flying colors.

Drake talked about what made he try out for the roll and said in a recent interview, "My mother was very sick. We were poor, like broke.  The only money I had coming in was off of Canadian TV, which isn't that much money when you break it down ... A season of Canadian television is under a teacher's salary, I'll tell you that much."
