The weekend is almost here and in an effort to keep our roadways and you safe, the Louisiana State Police has announced that they will be conducting a DWI and Seat Belt Checkpoint this weekend somewhere in Calcasieu Parish.

If you are planning to go out to a party, concert, get together with friends or see live music in the area, you may want to get a plan in place if you plan to have some drinks.

The state police will be looking to combat impaired driving so that is why they do these DWI and Seat Belt Checkpoints from time to time.

Louisiana State Trooper Derek Senegal said,

Our mission will be to detect and arrest impaired drivers before they can cause injury or death to themselves or others. Additionally, we will be checking vehicles for unrestrained motorists and occupants in an effort to reduce the number of traffic-related fatalities caused by not wearing a seat belt.

The checkpoint will take place somewhere in Calcasieu Parish this Friday night, April 8th, 2022 from 6:00 pm to Midnight at an undisclosed location.

Motorists are encouraged to have a designated driver or use a ride share or taxi to get home safely and ALWAYS buckle up when riding in a vehicle.
