This is one of those WTF? stories.  A Houston, Texas father was given a jail sentence for paying too much child support and over-visiting his son.

I've heard of dead-beat parents going to jail for NOT paying child support, but paying too much????  Apparently Clifford Hall from Houston, Texas payed too much child support and was recently given a 6-month sentence in jail for doing so.  If that doesn't get your blood boiling, he was also found in contempt of court for over-visiting his son.

I wish I could say this was a joke, but it's not.  Far from it.

Clifford Hall takes being a father to his 11-year-old son seriously.  Now divorced his son lives with his ex-wife, however up until now Hall was very much a part of his child's life.  In addition to a lot of one-one quality time, he pays his child support on a regular basis and has never fallen behind.  Hall said, “I’m his father it’s my responsibility to take care of him.”

So what's going on?  Sometime between last November and now, the child support agreement between Hall and his wife was modified as well as his visitation schedule without his knowledge.  As a result, it was discovered that Mr. Hall wound up overpaying support by $3,000 and over-visiting his son (if that's even possible).

The average person would say, this man is a really good father.  Unfortunately, Harris County District Court Judge Lisa Millard didn't see Hall's effort of being a good dad commendable.  Rather, she found him in contempt of court and sentence him to 6 months in jail!

What is this world coming too?
