Jacquees Says Mustard Pulled a “Hater Move” by Removing Singer’s “Trip (Remix)”
Jarcquees is still not happy with Mustard after the producer had the singer's remix of Ella Mai's "Trip" removed from streaming services last fall.
During a Friday (March 22) appearance on Big Boy's Neighborhood, Que called Mustard out over the "hating move."
“Really DJ Mustard hated on me. No cap. That was crazy," Jacquees said when he was asked why the song was removed. "Shout out to YG. YG my partner and I want to work with DJ Mustard too, but that was a hating move. Because it was crazy.”
When Big Boy cut in and added, "It was going too, huh?" Jacquees further elaborated on the scenario and revealed that Mai was into the "Quemix" at first.
"Yeah and I thought it was just dope because I been making remixes for a long time. And Ella Mai—we had just became friends! I had just met her backstage at this CB concert. We had another show together, she was supposed to come to my after-party. We were just linking up, and I did 'Trip.' I DM'd Ella Mai and was like, 'I'm finna redo 'Trip'. This hard!' And I dropped 'Trip' and Ella Mai commented on it. She put all the fire on it like, 'This hard!' She ain’t say 'this hard' but she just put all the fire under it. So we like damn, we going up!"
Following the interview being posted on Monday morning, Mustard issued a response of his own on his Instagram Story.
"Hahahaha that nigga Big Boy said, ‘It was going too, huh?’ You stupid, nigga!" Mustard said.
"Trip" was initially removed from streaming services last fall, and Jacquees insinuated that he was sent a cease-and-desist letter to remove it, and Mustard later confirmed that. While the producer noted that Mai had nothing to do with the removal, he revealed the main reason behind his label, 10 Summers, issuing the cease-and-desist was because Que was allegedly profiting off of it.
"When you monetize content you don't own you are stealing and no one steals from 10 Summers," Mustard said at the time. Que later denied making any money from the song, but it has continued to remain off of streaming services.
