JAY-Z to Appear on the Premiere of CNN’s ‘The Van Jones Show’
Political analyst and activist Van Jones will premiere his brand new eponymous talk show on CNN on Jan. 27. For the episode, he’s invited JAY-Z to be his guest.
The Roc Nation mogul will discuss his Grammy-nominated album 4:44 and some of the topical issues he explored on the project, including race and economics.
"[4:44] is a real social justice classic, and I want to talk to him about that,” Jones told Variety.
Jones added that Hov was an obvious first guest since he's a client under the Roc Nation banner. "I didn’t have to Google to find the phone number," he joked.
As for his talk show, Jones describes it as a place where both average and above-average Joes can discuss serious issues happening in America.
“This is an opportunity to really reflect on where we are and where we are going,” he says. “We will have cultural icons and political leaders on the one hand, but we will also be going out into the country, talking to ordinary people.”
The show will also have live-crowd interactions and previously taped segments of Jones' interaction with people across America to examine the social, political and cultural lines that shape the United States.
“It used to be that politics were solely for us news nerds. That’s no longer the case,” says Jones. “Everything and everybody is now involved in politics in some way."
The Van Jones Show, which will broadcast twice each month, will debut on Jan. 27 at 7PM ET on CNN.
