Kanye West Admits He Was Addicted to Opioids in Conversation With Hot 97’s Ebro Darden
During the Monday (April 23) episode of the Hot 97 morning show, co-host Ebro Darden said he had a conversation with Kanye West following the rapper's weekend tweet storm. During their nearly 30-minute talk, Yeezy allegedly revealed to Ebro that he was once addicted to opioids.
After addressing his tweets about right-wing media personality Candace Owens, the rapper reportedly opened up about his opioid addiction and claimed no one showed support for him during the time. "He went on to talk about, 'Nobody really showed love to me when I was addicted to opioids and in the hospital,'" Ebro says Yeezy told him.
The Hot 97 radio personality says he called Kanye out on the claim, telling him, "You're a liar. I said, 'I know people who personally reached out to [Pusha T], Scooter Braun and anybody close to you to come to your aid.' People love you, bro. And people wanna love you."
It's uncertain when Kanye suffered from an opioid addiction, as it had not been previously confirmed publicly. The rapper did land in the hospital in November following the cancellation of his Saint Pablo Tour. Reports at the time claimed Yeezy was admitted for "temporary psychosis due to sleep deprivation and dehydration."
Elsewhere during his chat with Ebro, Kanye allegedly admitted his love for President Donald Trump. "Kanye West, quote, 'I love Donald Trump,'" Ebro claims the rapper told him. Following the show, co-host Peter Rosenberg hopped on Twitter to further discuss Kanye's comments and claimed people close to the rapper had told him he loves Trump.
Check out what Ebro had to say about Kanye's opioid addiction below, which starts around the 5:35 mark.
