Kendrick Lamar is set to make his acting debut in an upcoming episode of Power. The Compton rapper will be joining 50 Cent's hit series on Starz for one episode on Sunday (July 29).

While K. Dot's role in the episode has yet to be revealed, Power executive producer Mark Canton praised the MC as a "once in a generation talent," adding, "Courtney [Kemp], 50 and I felt it would be exciting to create a role for him in 'Power.' Everyone involved is thrilled to have him join the family."

Power returned for its fifth season on Starz on July 1, doubling its acquisition and viewership performance on the Starz app from season four, as well as increasing its numbers for video-on-demand streaming.

Ahead of the season five premier, XXL caught up with the cast of Power, who told us what viewers could expect this year. "To me, he's not the sharpest knife in the drawer," 50 said about the character of Tommy. "He wants somebody to love him, wants somebody to be around him like that, so I'ma have to do that, maybe, after everything else is dealt with."

Rotimi Akinosho, who plays Dre, also spoke about his character, telling XXL, “He's taking charge of his own destiny, because everyone else was saying he can't do this and he needs to be here and he was just like 'No, I'm my own boss and I wanna express myself, so if you're not gonna rock with me then I gotta go over you.'”

In related news, Kendrick is up for one award at the upcoming MTV Video Music Awards. The rapper's "All the Stars" video with SZA earned a nomination for Best Visual Effects.
