After catching heat for an interview he did with the NRA and then issuing a pseudo-apology, Killer Mike has now issued a formal apology and cleared up exactly what he was trying to accomplish with his sit-down.

As the Run the Jewels rapper had previously said, his interview with NRATV was supposedly filmed a week before it aired and was then posted on the day of the 2018 March for Our Lives rally in Washington, D.C. to disparage what he calls a "noble" campaign that he actually supports.

"I wanna say first, I'm sorry guys," Killer Mike said in a video posted on Twitter. "I'm sorry that an interview I did about a minority—Black people in this country and gun rights—was used as a weapon against you guys," he continued, talking to the students who took part in the march.

"That was unfair to you and it was wrong and it disparaged the very noble work you're doing," Mike continued. "As your ally—and I am your ally, young people—I wanna say that many of the people I organize with were at that march... I am a friend and advocate to you all—the young people especially who are self-motivated, self-organized."

As for why he decided to sit down with the NRA for an interview, the rapper said he did it as a way to continue the conversation that he felt needed to happen. According to Killer Mike, his interview was about African-American gun ownership and was not in contrast to the March for Our Lives.

"[The interview] should never have been used in contrast to your march and I think it's wrong," he said in another video. "To the young people that work tirelessly to organize, I'm sorry adults chose to do this. I'm sorry NRA TV did that. I'm sorry that adults on the left and the right are choosing to use me as a lightening rod."

Killer Mike's original interview with NRATV aired on March 22 but was heavily promoted on Twitter the day of the march (March 24) by interviewer Colion Noir and the NRATV's Twitter account with the March for Our Lives hashtag.
