The City of Lake Charles is offering FREE workshops for area foster parents, legal guardians, and anyone else interesting in keeping children in their care safe. The workshop theme is "Linked," which perfectly describes the purpose of the training. Come and get linked with information, and the tools needed to ensure the safety and well being of foster children in your care.

The "Linked" workshops will take place the second Tuesday of every month at, Church of the King, 2145 Oak Park Blvd. in Lake Charles.  The first workshop is Tuesday July 11, 2017, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participating foster parents will receive one training hour, per workshop. Below is the schedule and course descriptions of workshops through the end of the year:

July 11, 2017 – Individual Education Plan Bootcamp
August 8, 2017 – NAS/Substance – Exposed Newborns in Foster Care
September 12, 2017 – Child Passenger Safety
October 10, 2017 – Risk Reduction Methods of SIDS and Accidental Suffocation
November 14, 2017 – Stress Relief
December 12, 2017 – To Be Determined

The "Linked" workshops are free and open to the public. The only requirement, is that all participants pre-register. Registration is simple.
