
Mardi Gras Closures & Trash Pickup Schedule For Louisiana
In celebration of Mardi Gras, all Calcasieu Parish Police Jury departments will be closed on Tuesday, March 4. Normal office hours will resume on Wednesday, March 5.
Garbage & Trash Pickup Unchanged Waste Management customers, don’t worry—your garbage and trash pickup will continue as scheduled on Mardi Gras day. If you have any questions about your service, call Waste Management at 337-436-7229 or visit wm.com/alerts for updates.
Solid Waste Convenience Centers Closed: The residential Solid Waste Convenience Centers in Lake Charles and Sulphur will also be closed on Tuesday, March 4, and Wednesday, March 5—their regular closure days. The centers will reopen on Thursday, March 6.
Family Fun at ‘The Zone’ on Mardi Gras Day! Looking for a family-friendly spot to enjoy the Mardi Gras festivities? “The Zone” is the place to be! This alcohol-and-tobacco-free area is designed for families with children and teens and will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on the parade route, located between Gill and Kirby streets, near the Old Historic Courthouse lawn.
Expect a full lineup of entertainment, including a live DJ, laser tag, mini golf, a bounce house, activity tents, train rides, a game truck, and plenty of free treats like hot dogs, popcorn, snow cones, and soft drinks. Best of all—it’s FREE to the public!
