Today in Tha Wire the NBA's Matt Barnes and DeMarcus Cousins have been hit with a lawsuit over a fight they were involved in, that broke out in New York City on Monday night.  TMZ reports, the brawl happened in the VIP section of the Avenue Nightclub. The team mates were said to be having a good time until Cousins decided to kick-it in VIP.

That's when all hell broke loose according to a rep for Barnes.  Who says on the way to his booth, Cousins, allegedly "butt bumped" a woman on accident.  That didn't sit well with her and she turned around and slapped the hell out of the NBA star in the face.  Seconds later according to Barnes, her crew which included several men, jumped on DeMarcus and he stepped in to defend his team mate.

Barnes goes on to claim he was knocked to the ground, and chocked during the melee. Though neither player needed medical attention afterwards, Barnes says he took pictures of his injuries to prove he was hurt.  Matter of fact, the basketball star says he and Cousins are the victims in this case, not the other way around. Meanwhile it's being reported that some footage of the fight was caught on camera, but it hasn't been revealed how much was captured just yet.  Barnes' attorney Alex Spiro released the following statement on the matter, "We do not believe a crime was committed and are hopeful no charges will be pressed." He added, "we are cooperating fully with authorities."

As for the suit, that has been filed by two members from the woman's alleged VIP crew. The other alleged victims are Jasmine Besiso and Myrone Powell and their claiming an entirely different story.  Powell says they were the ones viciously attacked, claiming Barnes choked his friend and Cousins punched him, when he tied to defend his helpless friend.

TMZ reports legal docs claim Barnes knocked Besiso out and that he and DeMarcus, proceeded kick and punch Powell, while he laid defenseless on the ground. So far no one has been arrested and no charges have been filed yet.  Shortly after the brawl kicked off, cops were called to the scene, but it was over by the time they arrived and both Sacramento Kings ballers had bailed.
