If you are headed or need to commute using I-10 E this morning, you are out of luck. Traffic is backed-up as far as the eye could see due to a multi-car pile-up just past Lafayette. The crash happened around 1:30 am and according to the Louisiana State Police(LSP), on the scene now, several 18-wheelers and passenger vehicles are involved in this horrific accident.

Troopers report the exact location is 1 mile west of LA Hwy 3000, near the Ramah exit, at mile post 134 (Atchafalaya Basin Bridge) in Iberville Parish. Both I-10 E lanes are completely shut down at this time. Motorist are being detoured onto Interstate I-49 North to US Hwy 190 E. LSP say the interstate will be closed for an extended time so crews can clear the wreckage from the roadway.

Motorist needing to access the I-10 E should anticipate heavy delays.
