N.W.A will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame this Friday (April 8). But unlike many inductees, the group will not be performing as part of the ceremony. Ice Cube revealed that N.W.A would not perform in a new interview with The New York Times.

"Nah, we’re not performing," Ice Cube said. "I guess we really didn’t feel like we were supported enough to do the best show we could put on."

Ice Cube was asked if this lack support came from the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame organizers.

"Pretty much, yeah," Cube said. "We wanted to do it on a whole other level, and that just couldn’t happen. But we’re totally honored, humbled and appreciative to the Hall for even just considering us, inducting us and inviting us."

While fans might be disappointed by the lack of a performance, the induction will be an amazing honor for the legendary group. Ice Cube credits the success of the N.W.A biopic Straight Outta Compton with getting them into the Hall of Fame.

"I think it was the thing that put us over the top," Cube said. "The movie was able to remind them of the impact of the group on pop culture and that the music is just as much rock ’n’ roll as anything. Rock ’n’ roll is a form of sped-up blues to me."

All living members of N.W.A - Ice Cube, Dr. Dre, MC Ren and DJ Yella - are expected to be in attendance for the induction ceremony on Friday.
