Offset’s Lawyer Says Fan With Smashed Phone Wants 15 Minutes of Fame
Offset believes he's being exploited by a fan after a felony warrant was issued for his arrest earlier this week.
Speaking with TMZ on Thursday (May 2), Offset's lawyer, Drew Findling ,said the aforementioned warrant, one that was issued after the rapper allegedly cracked one fan's phone screen, is "disgraceful and should be dismissed immediately." Findling also points toward the fact that the accuser, 18-year-old Junior Gibbons, waited four days to file a report against Offset as being evidence that their claims are bogus.
"[This] so-called victim, instead took to social media for an extended 15 minutes of fame," Findling explained.
Findling, who's also repped artists Gucci Mane in the past, says Offset was "simply trying to buy some items for youngest child" at his local Target at the time the fan attempted to take a picture of him. Despite reports that stated cops investigated the incident, Findling says there's no investigation or evidence to prove that Offset was the one who caused the cracks on Gibbons' phone.
The incident happened at a Target in Sandy Springs, Ga. last week (April 23). After checking out of the store, Offset was walking out of the store when Gibbons got too close for comfort and said, "What's up Offset?" That's when the "Clout" rapper smacked the phone out of Gibbons' hand.
Four days later, Gibbons filed a police report. The authorities reportedly launched an investigation and labeled the act as felony criminal damage of property. On Thursday a warrant for Offset's arrest was issued.
