The Lake Charles Police Department and the City of Lake Charles will participate in the annual National Night Out on Tuesday, August 6, from 6:00pm to 9:00pm, with a free community event at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Officers will be on hand with demonstrations from SWAT, K-9, Traffic Motorcycles, and plenty of free resources and information. There will also be a Kids Zone, giveaways, popcorn, cotton candy, and more.

“Our National Night Out Community Event provides citizens with the opportunity to meet and interact with officers from our many divisions in one location while gathering important information about a variety of resources available to them,” said Lake Charles Police Chief Shawn Caldwell. “It’s a chance for us to hear citizen concerns and allows us to build stronger police-community relationships.”

National Night Out is celebrated by communities nationwide on the first Tuesday of August every year with the goal of enhancing the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement by bringing residents and police officers together under positive circumstances.
