Sheriff’s Office Searching for Identity of Man Who Gave False Information During Arrest
According to a media release, on January 7, a Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office deputy, working an off-duty security detail at a store on West Prien Lake Road in Lake Charles, was made aware of a man attempting to steal merchandise from the store. The deputy "made contact with the suspect and after an investigation he was issued a misdemeanor summons for theft less than $1,000 and later released", said CPSO's Kayla Vincent.
After further investigation, detectives determined the suspect gave the deputy a false name and social security number, which belonged to a man who had previously reported his wallet and identity stolen in 2019.
After viewing surveillance video from the business, detectives were able to obtain a photo of the suspect. Anyone with information regarding the incident or identity of the suspect is asked to contact CPSO at 491.3605.
