School Closures Do To Wide Spread Power Outages In SWLA
ATTENTION PARENTS: Lake Charles Charter Academy is dismissing students due to a power outage. Parents can begin picking their kids up at 10 a.m., buses will run their normal routes at that time.
As you are probably now aware, several schools are closed in SWLA due to severe weather. KPLC TV reports, wide spread power outages are a result of a line of storms and exceptionally high winds that occurred during the overnight hours.
If you have a child at Lake Charles Charter Academy, they are dismissing students early due to a power outage. Parents can begin picking their kids up at 10 a.m., buses will run their normal routes at that time. The schools phone lines are down as well. Also, St. John Elementary parents are asked to use caution and avoid Elliot St. and Country Club Road due to a downed power line.
The following schools closed in Calcasieu and Jefferson Parish:
Calcasieu Parish: Bell City High School, Iowa High School, J.I. Watson, Our Lady's School, W.W. Lewis.
Jefferson Davis Parish: Welsh Elementary School, Welsh High School, Welsh-Roanoke Junior High School.
