Today in Tha Wire, at this point there's not much Steve Harvey hasn't accomplished. He's done it all: starred in his own TV show, appeared in several movies, including the iconic Kings of Comedy, he's got his own talk show, his own radio show, and hosts one of the most famous game shows of all time, "Family Feud". Yet amazingly enough, he ain't done.

According to the latest reports, Steve is getting ready to go back home to make history by hosting a two hour special of Showtime At The Apollo. Mr. Harvey served as host on the world-famous theater stage from 1993 to 2000, and witnessed the start of careers of many artists including Neyo and Dave Chapelle, who believe it or not were actually booed off the stage. Below is a look back when Steve was holding down as host.

The iconic television series helped launch the careers of music legends like James Brown, The Jackson Five, Stevie WonderLauryn Hill (who was also booed), and many others. Since 1934, the Harlem theater has been searching for untapped talent with their weekly Amateur Night competition. After 82 years, the show is still a must see on TV. Speaking of which, Harvey is more than ready to announce "It's showtime at the Apollo" once again. He said in a recent interview, “I’m excited to be going back home to the Apollo to celebrate the history of this great theater. I have great memories from my time there, and this is going to be a homecoming party that you won’t want to miss.”

Below, check out some classic footage of music legends performing at the Apollo.

The all new series premieres on Monday, December 5 on FOX. The network is ecstatic to be a part of this historic moment in TV. David Madden, President, Entertainment, Fox Broadcasting Company said at press time, “The Apollo Theater played a crucial role in so many of this nation’s most talented artists, including Steve, and we couldn’t be happier to have him lead us back to this legendary venue.” He added, “We’re sure this will be a fantastic night of entertainment.”

This is a huge moment for the Apollo Theater, and making note of that recently was the executive producer of the upcoming two hour special, Jonelle Procope, who's eager to continue the show's legacy. She is also the President and CEO of the historic theater, by the way. Mrs Procope said of the upcoming special, “Since its inception in 1934, the world’s original talent competition – Amateur Night at the Apollo – was, and continues to be, a primary source for discovering new talent and spotlighting up-and-coming artists. That tradition was continued with the successful 21-year run of the Showtime at the Apollo television program.” She continued, “We’re proud to continue to produce our live, weekly show, and are equally excited to be partnering with Fox to produce this Showtime At The Apollo special and to bring the Apollo experience back to television!”

I know I can't wait to see it. The return of Showtime At The Apollo, hosted by the one and only Steve Harvey, will happen Monday, December 5 on Fox. For more on entertainment, checkout Tha Wire every weekday at 12:50pm and 3:50pm, only on The People's Station 107 Jamz.
