The latest Teen Connection sessions for local high school students presented by the City of Lake Charles is set for Thursday, February 7, and Thursday, February 21, from 5 pm – 6 pm.  This weeks session will take a closer look at how teens can start their own business. For this session, the City of Lake Charles is teaming up with Ward 3 Recreation and the event will be held at the Huber Park Community Center located at 2401 4th Ave.

According to a media release,

Facebook, Subway and Wordpress may seem like a bit of an odd combination of companies to have in the same sentence, but did you know that all three were started by teenagers? The entrepreneurial spirit begins early for many teenagers and occasionally there are a few who are driven enough to create a successful company before they are even old enough to vote, said Katie Harrington, Public Information Officer.

This session will focus on fostering this entrepreneurial spirit and will provide practical tips for any teen who is looking to start their own business.

Teen Connection helps teenagers learn job skills, college prep, social media, interview skills, ACT prep, and more. The classes are lead by educators, government officials, and business leaders right here in our community.
