The Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Walk [VIDEO]

The Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer Foundation Walk is this Saturday October 19th, 2013 at the Lake Charles Civic Center.

Lake Charles residents along with surrounding areas gather once a year in October to celebrate the lives of those who have faced breast cancer, remember loved ones lost their battle, and encourage those still fighting to survive the deadly disease. Join us for the Ethel Precht Hope Breast Cancer walk, Saturday October 19th.  Registration will begin at 7:00 a.m., the Ceremony will begin at 8:00 a.m.and the Walk will begin at 8:30 a.m.

Don't miss your opportunity to support this wonderful event.  It seems to get bigger and bigger every year.  Ethel Precht is a breast cancer survivor and her mother beat the disease as well.  After attending a national walk, she decided to start one herself to help woman right here in our community.  Since 2004, the walk has been going strong.  The money raised goes to woman undergoing breast cancer treatments. The Ethel Precht Cancer Foundation awarded $60,000 in 2012 to local breast cancer survivors thanks to this walk.  ALL of the money raised stays right here in Calcasieu Parish.

We here at 107 Jamz do our best to attend to walk each year not only in support of the event, but in the memory of our beloved co-worker Jolyn Slate.  We will never forget you and always love you Jolyn.

With the money raised the Ethel Precht foundation also gives out scholarship’s to survivor’s immediate family members who are attending McNeese State University of Sowela Technical Community College.   If you or someone you know is suffering with this disease, know the you are not alone.  In fact, in 2011 the Ethel Precht foundation started a support group for breast cancer survivors that meet on a monthly basis.
