Help from volunteers around the nation has been life saving for the folks in Louisiana over the last several months. The recovery effort from Hurricane's Laura and Delta last year are still going on. The damage was so widespread and extensive, many people are still struggling with finding a place to live. The winter storm a couple of weeks ago didn't make matters any better, either.

This is why free groceries, water, and other resources from folks like the Southwest Louisiana United Way mean so much. KPLC reports Denise Durel with the local United Way of SWLA announced plans to do more than give away food. Durel explained they received a very big donation of furniture and home goods, two 18-wheelers worth, from a major outlet.

United Way is giving away the furniture and goods by appointment only to anyone in need. Requirements to apply include: proof of income and tax information. Register for the free furniture here.
