Good News as the latest has come out for families in need of a little additional assistance. The Louisiana Department of Health has announced that Families and pregnant individuals who are participating in the WIC program will continue receiving extra help with buying fruits and vegetables through a continuing resolution of the Extended Government Funding and Delivering Emergency Assistance Act.

This will last through December 2021 where women and children will continue to receive increases to the Cash Value Benefit. Under the Continuing Resolution, CVB is $24 for children, $43 for pregnant and postpartum persons, and $47 for breastfeeding persons.

The news comes after a 388% increase that happened from July 2021 to September 2021 and a 318% increase for women through the American Rescue Act that was passed in July of this year.

Remember that you are eligible for income-eligible pregnant, breastfeeding, and postpartum persons, and infants and children up to 5 years of age. If you are some who feels like you are eligible and have not been enrolled in WIC. You can do so today by visiting a local WIC clinic or fill out a pre-application at www.louisianawic.org.
