Will Smith Still Has The Midas Touch At The Box Office

Today in Tha Wire Will Smith announced he was absolutely "speechless" when he got the box office numbers on his latest movie Aladdin. Peep his IG post below and catch his reaction, the iconic rap pioneer/actor admitted he was terrified to take on the role. Will said he wasn't sure he could measure up to the Genie character acting legend Robin Williams, made famous in the original Disney animated film in 1992.

Until recently Independence Day was the biggest film of Will Smith's career, back in 1996 it brought in an incredible $817 million worldwide! That's nothing compared to the dollars his live reboot of Aladdin, starring Mena Massoud, Naomi Scott as Princess Jasmine and Marwan Kenari brought in. According to USA Today, the beloved Disney movie has raked in a whopping $874.2 million worldwide (and counting) since hitting the theaters Memorial Day weekend.

Wow, Go Will! Congrats. He's diffidently still got it when it comes to cashin' big dollars at the box office. Matter of fact fans will be happy to know that he's got four to seven more films are on the way. At least two will open before the end of 2019 including another animated flick where he voice stars as Detective Lance Sterling. Check out more Will Smith movies news below.

Me personally, I agreed with all but two of those movies. Though they rank Hancock (RT gave it a - 41%) and Wild, Wild West (RT- gave it a 17%.) among the worst, I still think they should've made the list. Shucks Shark Tale was awesome as well! They're still among my favorite Will Smith movies. So far with 27 movies under his belt the numbers don't lie.
