Alicia Keys’ 12th annual Black Ball took place over the weekend in New York at the iconic Hammerstein Ballroom.  Needless to see, AllHipHop reports it was a huge success. FYI the annual event raises money for the singers Keep A Child Alive Foundation, which provides the funds to help families affected by HIV/AIDS in Africa and India get treatment.

This year Keys’ foundation raised $3.8 million, which is a phenomenal achievement.  The songstress said of the ball,

“Everyone in the room was there to do their part, to add their support,” she continued. “It’s not right to me that Africa continues to be disproportionately impacted by AIDS, with too many young lives lost. Last night was about helping to correct that situation. To all of our amazing supporters, thank you for joining us, we couldn’t do this every year without you.”

The Master of Ceremonies was the one and only Chris Rock and guests were treated to performances from not only Alicia Keys but Wale, Lenny Kravitz and more.  Of course her hubby Swizz Beatz was in the building and other celebs opening their wallets were the NBA's Carmelo Anthony, model/actor Tyson Beckford, music mogul Clive Davis, KRS-One, Maxwell and many more.

Peep the video below and see how it went down this year.

To date, AllHipHop reports the Alicia Keys Keep A Child Alive Foundation has raised an incredible $28.7 million for families affected by the virus.  So kudo's to Alicia and the many stars that give back.
