There has recently been a major problem in our city with the increase in violence, and it's involving our youth. There are parents who are losing their kids to gun violence over what is considered to be senseless.

As a parent, I think about my son and how much he means to me. I wouldn't know what to do if I were to lose my son. There is no amount of money or support that can replace something as precious as a child. The question is now what can be done to bring peace to the city.

Pastor Charlie Williams IV, who is the Youth Pastor of Word of Hope Family Worship Center, has pleaded the call for the community to come together on tomorrow night. Pastor Williams has ordained an event called Cover Our City Prayer Rally and it will be held at the Lake Charles Civic Center tomorrow night at 6:30pm. This is a call to community leaders, artists, pastors, and local residents who notice the rise in crime and have no idea how to stop it.

I will be talking with Pastor Williams this afternoon during the afternoon Jump Off about his vision for this calling and other things that he has and will be doing in the community as a positive source for the youth. Make sure you tune in tonight and, if possible, attend the rally on tomorrow night on the grounds of the civic center.
