CPSO Looking for Shooting Suspect in Vinton
Vinton, La. - The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office responded to a shooting at 1010 Stevenson Street in Vinton Friday (Aug. 8) at approximately 4:30 p.m. When deputies arrived there was a victim who sustained an injury to his leg from the shooting, but his injuries are reportedly non-life threatening and he was transported to a hospital in Lafayette.
Deputies are now searching for the suspect, 36-year-old William S. Lastrapes, who lives at the home on Stevenson St., and fled the scene. A warrant for his arrest has been issued for $750,000, and he's being charged with attempted 2nd-degree murder; and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Anyone who knows the whereabouts of Lastrapes, who is considered armed and dangerous, is encouraged to call 911 or the Sheriff's Office at 491.3605. Do not approach him, said a media release. He was last seen on foot near his home on Stevenson St.
