CPSO To Set Up DWI Checkpoint In September
The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Office (CPSO) announced they plan to participate in the national campaign, “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over.” In an effort to continue cracking down on drunk driving in Calcasieu Parish, the CPSO reminds motorist to drive safely and always have a designated driver when consuming alcohol.
The DWI checkpoint will be set up at an undisclosed location in the parish on Thursday, September 1. CPSO warns they will be actively targeting people driving under the influence of alcohol, as well as narcotics. Announcing checkpoints will be conducted in the area has helped to encourage motorists to drive sober. This is a win-win for everyone. No one has to go to jail, the roadways are safer, and everyone gets to go home at the end of the day.
