As we get prepared for our kids to return to school on the 13th, The Lake Charles Police Department is holding its annual National Night out on Tuesday August 7th. According to Deputy of Chief Police Mark Kraus, here is the itinerary of the events scheduled for that night.

The purpose of this event is to come together as a community against crime, educate on topics such as drug prevention, anti-crime programs and send a message to criminals that Lake Charles is fighting back. From 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. on August 7th, 2012 residents in neighborhoods throughout Lake Charles are asked to lock their doors, turn on outside lights and spend the evening outside with neighbors.

The Lake Charles Police Department will have activities at the following locations:

v     Glad Tidings Church, 3400 Texas St. from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Numerous guest speakers and vendors will be on hand to answer questions.

v     Dixy Drive Community Center, 661 Dixy Dr. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Food and School Supplies will be given out

v     Anita Drive Community Center, 2400 Anita Dr. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Food and School Supplies will be given out

v     St. Mary Drive Community Center, 1409 St. May Dr. from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., Food and School Supplies will be given out

v     Demarest Watch Group, 2400 Block of Demarest St. from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.,

 

This is the time for the community to come out and support this local event so that we can spread the word and help bring the peace to the city. Make sure you do your part in participating in the event.
