After fifty-three years of service to public education, Dr. George Reado will be retiring from the Calcasieu Parish School Board. Most of his time was served as the Director of Curriculum and instruction for Elementary Schools. The honorable Dr. Raedo started his education tenure as a classroom teacher, also he spent time as a principal and then a district supervisor.

Dr. Reado was a 1963 graduate of W.O. Boston High School and earned his bachelor’s degree from Grambling State University, his master’s degree from McNeese State University, and his doctoral studies from Colombia Pacific University.

Dr. George Redo has numerous accolades and his life story could be written in several books with portrayals from top tier actors for a movie or two. In honor of his retirement, the Calcasieu Parish School Board will be celebrating Dr. Reado this Thursday, May 21 with a drive-by parade at his home. The cars will begin to line up at T.H. Watkins Elementary at 10:45am and proceed south on seventh avenue before turning on eighteenth street to pass his home. Congratulations to Dr. George Reado and thank you for your years of dedication to Calcasieu Parish.
